Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how I, Kobey Buhr ("I", "me", "my"), handle information when you use my apps and this website (collectively, the "Services").

Scope and Apps Covered

JIM has its own JIM Privacy Policy, covering fitness and health information, optional accounts and backups, sharing, and purchases. That separate policy applies to JIM. The sections below cover Storyboarder, Color Guesser, and this website.

Storyboarder

Your boards, frames, notes, sketches, and images are stored only in the app's own storage on your device. The app has no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. Used without an account, Storyboarder collects nothing: nothing is uploaded to me or to anyone else.

Two optional features send information off your device: plans and top-ups, whose AI credits are held in an account the app creates for you, and Draft and Quality images, which are made by OpenAI. Neither is needed to make boards. Both were added in version 2.0; earlier versions have neither and collect nothing.

Camera. If you choose to take a photo for a frame, the app asks for camera access at that moment. The photo goes straight into your board on your device.

Photos. When you add an existing image, you pick it through the system photo picker and only the images you select are copied into your board. The app is never given access to your photo library as a whole.

Sharing and export. Exporting a board hands the file to the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes. Whatever you send it to is covered by that app or service's own privacy policy, not this one.

Account. A plan's credits and top-ups are kept on my server. There is no sign-in or registration: the first time you buy a plan or top-up, the app creates an anonymous account on my server for your device, which is a random identifier and nothing else. Your device keeps the key to it. Your other devices on the same Apple Account share the same balance. Each one shows my server the App Store's signed record of your subscription, which only devices on your Apple Account can produce, and the server links their accounts. I never learn your name, email address or Apple Account. For each account the server stores its identifier, which accounts are linked, and, each time the app connected, when it was and the IP address and kind of device it came from.

Purchases. Plans, top-ups, and the Unlimited Boards purchase are processed entirely by Apple. I never receive your payment details. For plans and top-ups, the server keeps a record of each App Store transaction it has turned into credits (the transaction's identifier, the product, and its dates), your credit balance, and a ledger of credits added and used. Each purchase is tagged with your account's anonymous identifier, through Apple's purchase system, so the server knows which account it belongs to. Apple also notifies the server when a purchase is renewed or refunded. Apple's handling of the payment is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Draft and Quality images. These are made by OpenAI. The app asks for your agreement before you pay for a plan, and nothing is sent before you have given it. You can withdraw it at any time in the app under Settings → AI Credits → Send to OpenAI; nothing more is sent after that unless you agree again. When you ask for an image, the app sends my server, and my server sends OpenAI:

Nothing else on your boards is sent. My server keeps your prompt only while the image is being made, and keeps the finished image only until the app confirms it has saved it; an image the app never collects is deleted after two days. The server also keeps a record of each request: when it was made, which kind of image, how many credits it used, and whether it succeeded. Reference pictures are passed to OpenAI and not stored by my server.

OpenAI's content rules apply to every request, and it refuses some, explicit images among them; a refused request uses no credits. OpenAI processes what it receives to make the image and may retain it for a limited time to monitor for abuse, as described in how OpenAI handles API data. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models. OpenAI and Supabase (which hosts my server) process this data on my behalf under their data processing terms, which protect it at least as well as this policy does. Nobody else receives any of it.

Where it is stored. My server is hosted by Supabase in the United States.

Deleting your account. In the app, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and those of your linked devices, your credit balance and ledger, and the records of your image requests from my server, along with any generated image still waiting there. One thing is kept: the App Store transaction identifiers of purchases already turned into credits, with nothing linking them to you, so that the same purchase cannot be redeemed twice. Deleting your account does not cancel a plan, which is billed by Apple; cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

Deleting the app deletes the boards on your device. Export anything you want to keep before you do. It does not delete your account; do that in the app first.

RGB Color Guessing Game

This app displays non-personalized advertisements via Google AdMob. These ads are not based on your interests or browsing history, and the app does not track you. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect limited data (such as IP address) to serve and measure ads. I do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. If you email support, I will only use your message to respond to you.

Website

This website uses Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate usage and improve the site. Analytics providers may receive information such as page views, device type, approximate location (derived from IP address), and events (e.g., button clicks). For details on data practices, see Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's Privacy & Security.

How I Use Information

I use information (when provided, such as via email) to operate, maintain, and improve the Services, provide support, and communicate with you.

Data Retention

I retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, after which it is deleted or anonymized. If an app collects no information at all, there is nothing to retain. What Storyboarder keeps for an account stays until you delete the account, as described above. If you email support, I keep your message only as long as needed to address your request.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact me at kobeydevapps@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

My Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. The RGB Color Guessing Game does not collect personal information from any users, including children, and Storyboarder collects none from anyone who has not bought a plan or top-up or asked for a Draft or Quality image. If you believe any personal information has been provided, contact support to request deletion.
